Arts for All Seasons (ArtsFAS) is a grant by Yayasan Hasanah, in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance, designed to support Malaysian artists and creatives by providing a platform to express, share, and bring their work to life.

Launched during the COVID-19 pandemic to address challenges in the arts sector, ArtsFAS has since become a consistent arts grant, dedicated to nurturing arts, culture, and heritage. It promotes an inclusive cultural landscape, benefiting people of all ages and backgrounds.

The grant supports a wide range of projects that celebrate Malaysian arts, heritage, and culture—including exhibitions, performances, workshops, and digital content. By supporting artists and organisations, ArtsFAS helps sustain creative practices, strengthens the arts ecosystem, and contributes to Malaysia’s growing creative economy

What we are looking for?

ArtsFAS (Art for All Seasons) is a six (6)-month grant supporting diverse creative projects that showcase Malaysian art, heritage, and culture. The intention is to sustain artists and artisans by providing platforms to create, perform, and contribute to the creative economy.

The ArtsFAS grant supports:

  1. The development and showcasing of artistic works that celebrate Malaysia’s unique arts, heritage and cultural traditions
  2. Initiatives that create meaningful social impact and economic opportunities through community engagement and professional development
  3. Programs designed to make the arts accessible to all Malaysians, fostering wider public appreciation
  4. Sustainable approaches that strengthen and future-proof Malaysia’s creative and cultural sector

Funding Amount

The ArtsFAS grant is structured to provide financial support of up to RM250,000 per project. The Grant amounts are determined based on the scope, scale, and potential impact of each proposal. Factors considered include the nature of the initiative, target beneficiaries, proposed activities, and alignment with ArtsFAS objectives. Yayasan Hasanah reserves the right to determine the final amount awarded based on proposal evaluation and budget justification.

Eligible Projects

  • Full registration under the Registrar of Societies (ROS) or the Registrar of Companies (ROC).
  • Officially registered and active for at least One (1) year prior to applying for Hasanah’s grant award. If the organisation was previously operating under a different name, the applicant must provide supporting documentation to verify this continuity
  • Location: Nationwide
  • Grant provides a one-off support that should not overlap with any of Yayasan Hasanah Grant, Sponsorship, or the Humanitarian Fund

Non-eligible Projects

  • Initiatives that support political campaigns or agendas.
  • Initiatives aimed primarily at charitable donations or profit-making objectives.
  • Projects that are faith-based in nature or promote specific religious practices.
  • Any other activities that are not within the scope of ArtsFAS objectives.

Art Category

Types of art forms eligible to apply under ArtsFAS are segmented into six (6) art categories as below description. The projects should ideally refer to Malaysian heritage arts, which may be expressed through either fusion approaches or contemporary adaptations suitable for today’s context.

Performing Arts
Creative expressions through live performances

  1. Dance: Includes classical, contemporary, folk, and experimental dance forms.
  2. Theatre: Live performances such as drama, musicals, or experimental stage art.
  3. Music: Traditional, classical, and modern music performances, including vocal and instrumental.
  4. Vocal: Solo or group singing, including classical, cultural, choir, A Cappella, contemporary, pop, or experimental styles
  5. Multimedia Performance: Combines live art with digital technology, projections, or virtual elements.

Storytelling/ Oral traditions
Sharing narratives, cultural knowledge, and traditions

  1. Content Creation: Crafting visual narratives through videos and films to share stories, cultural heritage, or creative expressions.
  2. Folklore and Legends: Sharing traditional stories, myths, and legends unique to specific cultures.
  3. Spoken Word and Poetry: Performance-based poetry and narrative storytelling.
  4. Historical Narratives: Oral recounting of historical events or cultural heritage.
  5. Indigenous Storytelling: Traditional stories passed down by indigenous communities, often tied to their cultural practices.

Visual Arts
Artistic expressions that are primarily visual in form

  1. Fine Arts Paintings: Includes oil, acrylic, watercolor, mixed media or digital painting.
  2. Sculpture: 3D art forms using materials like clay, stones, metal, recyclable materials, etc.
  3. Photography: Fine art, documentary, or experimental photography
  4. Mixed Media and Installations: Combining various materials or creating immersive visual experiences.
  5. Digital Art and Immersive: Art projects using VR, AR, or projection mapping to create engaging, interactive environments.

Heritage Art, Craft & Culture
Practices and creations rooted in cultural traditions

  1. Traditional Food: Traditional food practices, recipes, and culinary techniques passed down through generations
  2. Traditional Crafts: Woodwork, pottery, basket weaving, and other handmade crafts
  3. Traditional arts: Ways of making art that have been passed down for many years in a certain culture. It’s how people have always done it.
  4. Heritage arts: Art forms that tell stories about a place’s history and culture. They help us remember the past.

Textile
The art and craft of textile/ fabric creation

  1. Traditional Textile: Fabrics made using age-old techniques, reflecting cultural heritage and craftsmanship.
  2. Heritage Motifs and Patterns: Using motifs and patterns to tell stories on textiles/fabrics.

Art for Public Spaces
Organised spaces or events for showcasing and engaging with art

  1. Festivals and Exhibitions: Large-scale events showcasing art, culture, and performances.
  2. Workshops and Masterclasses: Hands-on learning sessions led by experts in various disciplines.
  3. Competitions and Awards: Recognising and promoting talents in specific fields.
  4. Collaborative Platforms: Networking spaces for artists, performers, and organisations to connect and showcase their work.

STEP 1: Eligibility Assessment

Our grant application process starts with an Eligibility Assessment. Before you apply, please ensure the following:

  • Your company or organisation must be registered with the Registrar of Societies (ROS) or the Registrar of Companies (ROC).
  • Companies or organisation must be active for at least 1 year (12 months from the date of registration)

The grant process will take five (5) working days to determine your eligibility.

STEP 2: Create Your Organisation Profile

Upon eligibility, you will receive an email link to create an organizational through the grant portal.

STEP 3: Submit Your Grant Application

Once you have successfully created your profile, you will then be directed to start your grant application.

STEP 4: Result Of Application

You will be informed via email if your application is approved or rejected. Timing will depend on the total volume of applications received during the submission period.
