"Drum Up JB" is an educational and entertaining 90-min performance that is perfect for all ages, featuring a historical background of 24 Festive Drums, interactive sessions, and captivating performances by two professionals drum troupes.
The two drum troupes, JB Drums from Johor and Orang Orang Drum Theatre from Kuala Lumpur, are two of the important icons of the industry in developing and promoting drumming culture in Malaysia. They keen to promote the local percussion culture and also inject new elements to Johor Bahru tourism industry with the perspective of cultural tourism.
“Drum Up JB” is divided into two sections. The first section is set against the birth of the 24 Festive Drums, taking you along the footprints of history through the classic works from different eras since 1988. In 2009, the art form was listed as Malaysia intangible cultural heritage and has spread all over the world today. In the second section, you will get to appreciate the fresh fusion of percussion instruments belonging to the various ethnic groups of Malaysia.
